About the Associated Students of UCSD (ASUCSD)

The Associated Students of the University of California, San Diego are the elected and appointed representatives of the UC San Diego student body. The ASUCSD works to promote student engagement through its services and leadership opportunities. The ASUCSD seeks to foster a cohesive community through active interaction and communication with students, the administration, and the greater San Diego Community. Our mission is to facilitate and encourage students to grow and develop through their involvement in student government, its services and auxiliaries. We promote student engagement in all areas of campus life through leadership, advocacy, and service in order to build and strengthen our community.

About the AVP Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

The purpose of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office shall be to increase the knowledge, appreciation, and presence of diversity on campus. The Office shall support student-initiated outreach and retention of students from historically underrepresented backgrounds at UCSD. The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office is dedicated to helping create a constant medium for discussion on issues pertaining to equity, diversity, and inclusion awareness through forums, diversity trainings, films, speakers, periodic surveys of campus climate, and by any other appropriate events or programs. The Office shall work to ensure that support for the services and programs of resource centers such as the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center (LGBTRC), the Cross Cultural Center, the Women’s Center, the Raza Resource Centro, the Black Resource Center, the Inter-tribal Resource Center, the Undocumented Students Resource Center, the Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service (SPACES), the International Center, and the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS) is advocated for through the Associated Students. The Office shall maintain good working relations with the directors, interns, and community members of the above-mentioned centers.

Responsibilities

  • Shall attend council meetings (starting Wednesdays at 3pm).
  • Shall organize and oversee the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Shall serve on the Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service (SPACES) Board of Directors
  • Shall work with Student Affirmative Action Committee (SAAC)
  • Shall serve on Diversity Ad Hoc Planning Committees
  • Shall serve on the Cross Cultural Center Student Advisory Board
  • Shall serve on the OASIS Student Advisory Board
  • Shall meet with the Director of the Black Resource Center quarterly unless decided otherwise
  • Shall meet with the Director of the Raza Resource Centro quarterly unless decided otherwise
  • Shall meet with the Representative of the Inter-tribal Resource Center quarterly unless decided otherwise
  • Shall meet with the Director of the Undocumented Students Resource Center quarterly unless decided otherwise
  • Shall meet with the Director of International Center quarterly unless decided otherwise
  • Shall meet with the Director of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center (LGBTRC) quarterly unless decided otherwise
  • Shall meet with the Director of Cross Cultural Center (CCC) quarterly unless decided otherwise
  • Shall meet with the Director of Women’s Center quarterly unless decided otherwise

Timeline

  • Applications will be due by Friday, May 13th at 11:59pm. Completed applications may be submitted online using this form. Upon submission of the application you will be contacted to sign up for an interview.
  • Interviews will be held May 16-20th. We ask that you please be flexible with your schedule in order to accommodate the interview schedule.
  • If selected, you will be asked to attend the A.S. Council meeting on Wednesday, May 25, 2015.
