Personal Statement

As AVP Diversity Affairs, I will serve to improve the campus climate by promoting and implementing diversity initiatives to enhance campus awareness of underrepresented students. I plan to connect the campus by making sure that students are aware of diversity centered organizations and events. My goals include strengthening connections between Associated Students, general student body, and programs, such as SPACES and OASIS. Connecting to the progressive student organizations on campus will play a large role in gaining understanding of individuals from diverse backgrounds to form solidarity and act as allies in the quest for acceptance and appreciation. I will reach out to the greater San Diego underrepresented populations in order to increase their representation on our campus. These goals can be achieved with active student interest and participation.
