| John Muir College Activity Fee Referendum: The Giving Fee |
In order to enhance Muir College activities, programs, and student organizations, it is proposed that Muir College students increase the current Muir College Activity Fee. Effective Fall, 2009 an additional $3 per student per quarter will be collected with quarterly fees. These funds will be allocated by the Muir College Council. In addition the fee would increase by $2 every five years (Beginning fall 2014). This increase will terminate following two full terms (10 years).
29% of this fee increase will return to UCSD to help meet the financial aid needs of undergraduate students.
The current Muir College Activity Fee is $7 per student per quarter. Neither the increased nor existing activity fee will be assessed during summer sessions.

| Sixth College Student Activity Fee Referendum |
Do you approve an increase in the Sixth College student activity fee by $2.00 per student per quarter effective Fall Quarter of 2009 to support Sixth College programming, events, registered student organizations, and the activities of the Sixth College Student Council?
29% ($0.58) of this fee increase will return to UCSD to help meet the financial aid needs of undergraduate students.
The current Sixth College student activity fee is $8.00 per student per quarter. Neither the increased nor existing fee will be assessed during summer sessions.
If this fee referendum is approved and implemented, the Sixth College student activity fee will be $10.00 per student per quarter effective Fall Quarter of 2009. The entire Sixth College student activity fee will be adjusted annually according to the California Consumer Price Index (CPI) starting in Fall Quarter of 2010. In addition, no referendum that would increase the Sixth College student activity fee will be proposed before Fall Quarter of 2012.

Election Information
| SINGLE TRANSFERRABLE VOTE (STV) |
Starting with general elections 2008, the AS implemented the Single Transferable Voting (STV) system to count votes in some races. This assures that every vote cast will count in the final tally and that students are not dissuaded from voting for a candidate who might otherwise seem like a "wasted vote". This system requires voters to rank candidates according to preference, and then transfers unneeded or unused votes once candidates are either elected or eliminated based on a preset quota. For more information about STV, please visit
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_transferable_vote#Setting_the_quota
If you have any other questions regarding the elections, please contact the AS Elections Manager Frank Carrol.
| VOLUNTARY SPENDING LIMITS |
Accepting voluntary spending limits requires candidates to spend at or below the following limits:
| Members of Slates: | Candidates running individually: |
| Officers | $250 | | Officers | $500 |
| Senators | $100 | | Senators | $200 |
Declining voluntary spending limits allows the candidate to spend an unlimited amount of money on their campaign.
