The Associated Students of the University of California, San Diego are the elected and appointed representatives of the UC San Diego student body. The ASUCSD works to promote student engagement through its services and leadership opportunities. The ASUCSD seeks to foster a cohesive community through active interaction and communication with students, the administration, and the greater San Diego Community. Our mission is to facilitate and encourage students to grow and develop through their involvement in student government, its services and auxiliaries. We promote student engagement in all areas of campus life through leadership, advocacy, and service in order to build and strengthen our community.
The AS Office of External Affairs shall work to educate the UC San Diego student body about issues regarding higher education and provide students opportunities to engage with other UC campuses and state and federal stakeholders. The Office shall serve to advocate for the enhancement of the University of California system through efforts of its own and those of the University of California Student Association. The Office of External Affairs shall achieve these means through working with multi-campus partners, legislators, and others and shall oversee the efforts of the Office of Local Affairs, the Student Organized Voter Access Coalition, and the Triton Lobby Corps.
The Fund The UC Campaign is one of four of UCSA's permanent campaigns that focuses on ensuring affordability, quality, and access to the University of California by eliminating all tuition and fees, restoring per student funding to adequate levels, and maintaining financial aid for cost of living and other costs of attendance. Through identifying and securing dedicated progressive taxation revenue streams for the University of California we will achieve the original intent in the California Master Plan for Higher Education of an equitable higher education system for all.
Duties of the Fund The UC Campaign Coordinator include but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with the other UC Campuses respective representatives
- Updating the External Office on activities of the campaign as requested by the Organizing Director
- Help plan a townhall aimed at teaching students about UC funding, tuition, and fees
- Work with legislator director on which representative to meet with for Student Lobby Conference in Sacramento.
