The Triton Lobby Corps is the legislative advocay body of the Associated Students Office of External Affairs. The Triton Lobby Corps is in charge of pursuing public policy goals that will benefit the UCSD undergraduate student body. The Trition Lobby Corps does extensive policy research, student and community outreach and lobbying of public officials, including one-on-one meetings, issuing public comments, and attending legislative meetings. The Triton Lobby Corps is recruiting student lobbyists. Student lobbyists will work at the discretion of an assigned Executive Board member. Student Lobbyists will work with a Project Manager on a specific policy issue, the Director of Community Outreach on coalition-building and identifying policy goals to pursue, the Director of Student Outreach to engage with students and understand the concerns or the Director of Media and Marketing to help amplify TLC on social media and using digital tools to create public pressure. Student lobbyists work will depend on the Executive Board member they are working under but will most likely help conduct policy research and attend lobbying meetings. A student lobbyists should be someone who can be relied upon and produces quality work. A student lobbyist should be a good communicator and team-player. The goal is to have all student lobbyists take an active role in all aspects of the lobbying process. The time commitment will likely be around 5 hours a week and student lobbyists will be required to attend weekly meetings.
