The Associated Students of the University of California, San Diego are the elected and appointed representatives of the UC San Diego student body. The ASUCSD works to promote student engagement through its services and leadership opportunities. The ASUCSD seeks to foster a cohesive community through active interaction and communication with students, the administration, and the greater San Diego Community. Our mission is to facilitate and encourage students to grow and develop through their involvement in student government, its services and auxiliaries. We promote student engagement in all areas of campus life through leadership, advocacy, and service in order to build and strengthen our community.

The Office of Academic Affairs works with various campus entities to maximize student involvement in academic governance by strengthening student influence on the creation and implementation of University policy, to initiate policy or other academics-related recommendations to the Academic Senate and to research academic policies and issues of concern to students at UC San Diego, to coordinate student representation to faculty and administration on issues of academic policy, academic life, and the academic environment on campus, in order to enhance the value and quality of undergraduate education, to increase student awareness of relevant and important academic issues in addition to the processes whereby academic policy is formulated, and to maintain programs and committees that benefit undergraduate students in the area of Academic Affairs.

Interns in the Office of Academic Affairs may work with other Office members on any of the following:

  • Organizing events throughout the academic year to gather student input and initiate dialogue between Associated Students and the student body, such as town hall forums, speaker series, etc.

  • Working with Academic Senators in event planning and student outreach, as well as meeting with faculty and academia.

  • Coordinating with academic organizations and departments on campus to pool student input regarding academic affairs and organize advocacy strategies.

  • Working alongside the Programming Director to organize town hall forums and speaker series to gather student input.

  • Taking up initiatives of their own to support the Office's goals and mission.
