About the Office

The Office of Food and Housing Resources assists the coordination of campus wide efforts to provide accessible, affordable, and sustainable food and housing for all university students. The office raises awareness through educational content and promotes action towards food and housing insecurity on the UC San Diego campus. Past projects include Homelessness & Hunger Awareness Week, Triton Rocks Hunger, Basic Graduation Packs, Professional Closet, and Taste of Success. Staff members of this office are expected to contribute additional knowledge and goals in order to enhance the quality of student life at UC San Diego. Food Security Advocate Responsibilities

  • Promote and engage with resources that pertain to food security such as the Triton Food Pantry, Food Recovery Network, CalFresh Team etc.

  • Plan projects to increase accessibility and awareness to resources that combat food insecurity across campus.

  • Demonstrate well-rounded knowledge and understanding of basic needs on campus with a focus on food security.

  • Work closely with cross-campus resources and committees to address food insecurity at UC San Diego. 

  • Expand reach to the student body to increase student access and information on campus and community resources.

  • Keep active and regular communication with the Office of Food and Housing Staff.

  • Regularly attend weekly staff meetings and one-on-ones with Office Leads.

  • Coordinate with the marketing team and office staff to publicize information relating to food security.

 

The Housing Resource Advocate responsibilities include:

  • Promote and engage with resources that pertain to housing stability such as Student Legal Services, HDH, Emergency Housing etc.

  • Plan projects to increase accessibility and awareness to resources that combat housing instability across campus.

  • Demonstrate well-rounded knowledge and understanding of basic needs on campus with a focus on housing security.

  • Work closely with cross-campus resources and committees to address housing insecurity at UC San Diego. 

  • Expand reach to the student body to increase student access and information on campus and community resources.

  • Keep active and regular communication with the Office of Food and Housing Staff.

  • Regularly attend weekly staff meetings and one-on-ones with Office Leads.

  • Coordinate with the marketing team and office staff to publicize information relating to housing. 

 

Basic Needs/Financial Wellness Advocate Responsibilities

  • Engage with resources that pertain to basic needs security such as The Hub: Basic Needs Center and provide information on the UC Definition of Basic Needs.

  • Promote equal access to basic needs, including food and housing security, with an emphasis to expand knowledge of financial literacy to establish a foundation of financial wellness at UC San Diego. 

  • Plan projects to increase accessibility and awareness to resources that combat basic needs insecurity across campus.

  • Demonstrate well-rounded knowledge and understanding of basic needs on campus with an emphasis on financial wellness.

  • Work closely with cross-campus resources and committees to address basic needs insecurity at UC San Diego. 

  • Expand reach to the student body to increase student access and information on campus and community resources.

  • Keep active and regular communication with the Office of Food and Housing Staff.

  • Regularly attend weekly staff meetings and one-on-ones with Office Leads.

  • Coordinate with the marketing team and office staff to publicize information relating to basic needs and financial wellness.
