  • Advocate General

The Associated Students of the University of California, San Diego are the elected and appointed representatives of the UC San Diego student body. The ASUCSD works to promote student engagement through its services and leadership opportunities. The ASUCSD seeks to foster a cohesive community through active interaction and communication with students, the administration, and the greater San Diego Community. Our mission is to facilitate and encourage students to grow and develop through their involvement in student government, its services and auxiliaries. We promote student engagement in all areas of campus life through leadership, advocacy, and service in order to build and strengthen our community.

Position Description

  • Maintain the attendance records for all required meetings and events as outlined by the ASUCSD Standing Rules

  • Promote transparency and accountability of the AS Assembly

  • Maintain the Advocate General email account and respond to requests for absences to be excused under the criteria laid out in the AS Standing Rules

  • Issue absence related impeachment notices and resolutions

  • represent the Associated Students in all hearings in front of the Associated Students Judicial Board, unless the Advocate General is a party or a witness to the case

  • Be Neutral

  • Act as Speaker of the Senate

    • Attend all Senate Meetings (every Wednesday at 6pm during the academic year)

    • Act as an impartial presiding officer

    • Moderate senate meetings using Robert's Rules of Order
