Hi everyone! My name is Alexis Orrick (she/her/hers) and I am the Sr AVP of Student Advocacy. My responsibilities include reviewing University policy on Academic Integrity and Student conduct, as well as provide interpersonal services for students who need help navigating this process. Outside of AS I am a third year Comparative Politics major and the President of the UCSD Salsa Club. I do not have regular Office Hours, but email is the best way to reach me if you’d like to meet up and discuss anything relating to Academic Integrity and Student Conduct. Feel free to reach out!

Summary

This week I met with several students to advise cases, prepared for a 10 hour hearing next week, and assisted with training new hires on Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Policy. We also had an office meeting where we went over the Advocate Agreement and privacy training for this year.

Our outreach team is planning to release an infographic about not violating academic integrity in chat services (such as discord) related to a class, and we plan to hold some sort of policy education event in the next couple of weeks.

Summary

This week I advised several students cases and finished selecting our new hires. After 19 interviews we selected 9 new student advocates and outreach interns to serve with us this year, and they began training this week. We did a Basic Training on Friday, and finalized our in depth policy trainings about Academic Integrity and Student Conduct for next week.

Our outreach team was focused on selecting new hires, but also brainstormed events for this quarter and future quarters. They decided we will be focusing our efforts on creating and disseminating infographics to educate students and virtual outreach using gift cards for local restaurants and other community-supporting prizes.
