Regine Reyes has served as the Retention Programs Advisor at SPACES since 2016. She graduated from UC San Diego in 2012 with a BA in History and a minor in Ethnic Studies. She went on to serve as a Teach for America Corps Member and founding faculty member of a Los Angeles Unified School District high school. In 2014, she graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a MA in Special Education and California Teaching Credential in Mild/Moderate Disabilities. Her commitment to educational equity is shaped by her experiences as a working class immigrant raised in southeast San Diego and her undergraduate student organization involvement. She believes that student-run, student-initiated work can create spaces for resistance, empowerment, and praxis at the university.
